About

Notes on Chartered Accountancy, taxation, and the long road to practice, written while I walk it.

Who I am

I’m Abhinav Kadiam, a semi-qualified Chartered Accountant. I’ve cleared CA Intermediate and am currently pursuing my Article-ship alongside the CA Final course. Somewhere between the early mornings with audit files and late nights with Direct Tax notes, I started writing. This site is that writing, organised.

What I write about

My work here sits at the intersection of the CA curriculum and real-world Indian finance. Expect three kinds of posts:

  • Explainers. Long-form pieces that unpack Direct Tax, GST, Audit, and Financial Reporting concepts the way I wish they had been taught to me.
  • Notes. Short commentary on ICAI circulars, CBDT notifications, and Budget or Finance Act updates as they happen.
  • Case studies. Worked examples drawn from the kind of problems I see in practice, stripped of client specifics.

Why I’m building this in public

The CA journey is long. Between Inter and Final, most of us go quiet: head down, articleship, exams. I’ve chosen the opposite route. I write openly as I learn, teach what I’m still figuring out, and document the path. When I qualify and set up practice, I’d rather do it on a foundation that is already proven useful to other students, small business owners, and curious readers, instead of on a blank LinkedIn post.

A note on accuracy

Everything here is researched against primary sources (the Income-tax Act, CGST Act, ICAI standards, and official notifications) and reflects the law as of the date on each post. Tax and accounting rules change; always verify against current law or consult a qualified professional before acting on anything you read here. Nothing on this site is legal or financial advice.
